San Angelo Composite Squadron Celebrated Veterans Day

12 January 2008
SAN ANGELO, Texas - San Angelo Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron TX-023 celebrated Veterans Day by participating in the fourth Annual San Angelo Veterans Day parade.

Under a beautiful blue sky, the parade opened with a two-ship formation of F-16's from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio performing a fly-by while thousands of cheering people, young and old, lined the streets waving and saluting.

Along with 90 organizations from the local area, and Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps personnel from Goodfellow Air Force Base, the San Angelo Composite Squadron float, a mock-up of the squadron Cessna 172, snaked through downtown San Angelo while cadets and seniors walked the route, handing out candy and information about the Civil Air Patrol to parade-goers.

"I am proud to lead this group of patriotic cadets. Through their Civil Air Patrol studies, they know and understand that our freedom was and is purchased by the American Military Veteran," stated Maj Maurice Clement, TX-023 Squadron Commander.

Cadets who participated in the parade were C/SMSgt Linden Lansford, C/SSgt Matthew Barnes, C/A1C Cody McCallum, C/A1C Jared Goecker, C/Amn Sean McCallum, and C/Amn Dylan Simkins.
