Well - its time to
start thinking about the 2008 Texas Cadet Glider Academy. This is a
state wide cadet event and Group and Unit commanders support is
solicited to encourage cadets and assist them in obtaining funs were
necessary. This is an excellent way for the participating cadets to come
away with an understanding of the fundamentals of flight and start them
on their way to an aviation carrier.
There is nothing like the freedom
of flight in a silent glider. Yes it is an airplane that relies on the
skill of the pilot to maintain flight without the crutch of an
engine/propeller. There is nothing like the quiet serenity of glider
flight. Over the past four years, ALL of the cadets have completed the
academy with enthusiasm and stated that not only was it FUN but that it
was truly a high light of their carrier as a CAP cadet.
One week of ground
school and flight
training. Each student will have 30 flights.
The Academy will be held at the Bishop Airport 76T (Decatur Tx.) August
08 thru 16, 2008.
The OPS plan will be on the Wing Calendar shortly. Since the Academy is
limited to 10 Cadets you will need to put your application/request in
early to secure a position.
The OPS plan spells out the requirements and procedures for you
application and give you a good overview of the Academy. Hope to see you
soaring in the blue.
