The Wing IACE coordinator and local coordinators have developed an ambitious schedule for our guests. 

Visitors are coming from: Canada, Netherlands, Turkey, and United Kingdom

3 August - IACE returns to Washington DC
The Texas contingent of IACE boarded at Houston Intercontinental for Washington DC.

2 August - NASA & BBQ:
Sunday was the wrap-up day. IACE ended on a high note with a visit to the home site of the largest and longest "joint" and "multinational" exercise in history...NASA. A Barbeque was held in Waller, Texas and kind words and certificates were exchanged.

1 August - Galveston and Schlitterbahn:

Saturday was a much anticipated day of rest at the Schlitterbahn water park on Galveston Island. IACE Cadets were returned home to their sponsor families for an early day.

31 July - Ellington ANG Base and Soaring:

Friday began with a tour around Ellington Air National Guard Base. The cadets visited the Apache Attack Battalion, Coast Guard Air Station Houston, and NASA's aircraft. Following the Ellington visit the IACE cadets were taken the the Gliderport at Waller where they went soaring all afternoon.

30 July - Orientation Flights & George H.W. Bush Presidential Library:

Thursday morning began with orientation flights, hampered by some intermittent weather. However, the skies cleared and the Austin skyline was very impressive. In the afternoon the IACE cadets received a guided tour of President G.H.W. Bush's Presidential Library at Texas A&M University.

29 July - Texas State Capital & Austin Army Aviation Support Facility 

Wednesday began with a tour of the Capital Visitors Center and the Texas Capital building. The IACE cadets were all received in the Governor's Public Reception Room where they were presented with documents declaring them Honored Guests of the Great State of Texas. Following lunch the Cadets toured the AAASF and learned about Army Aviation as well as the five army aircraft present, including the Blackhawk, Apache, Kiowa, Lakota and Sherpa. Finally, dinner was held at the County Line on the Hill.
                                      

28 July - DFW Airport & Flight Safety: Tuesday involved an extensive tour and briefing on the 3rd busiest airport in the world...including a photo stop between active runways and a trip into the nerve center...the Airport Operations Center.

                                                   

27 July - KC-135 Orientation Flight:
Monday was our longest day on the training schedule. We traveled up to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as guests of the 507th Air Refueling Wing. After flight briefings and acquiring in-flight box meals...the cadets stepped out to the aircraft. Although rainy at ground level it was bright and sunny at attitude and the A-10s could be seen up close and personal. Photos below.

                       

26 July - O'Flights and Dallas City Tour - Sunday the 26th marked the beginning of the flying portion of the IACE visit. Each IACE cadet received a lengthy Orientation to the Dallas Fort Worth area from the air aboard Texas Wing Civil Air Patrol aircraft. Following the orientation flights we visited Dealey Plaza and the Sixth Floor Museum to learn more about November 22, 1963.

25 July - City of Frisco Tour - "Mayor Maso rolled out the red carpet for Texas Wing's IACE visitors, demonstrating the cutting edge Emergency Operations Center, Fire Station, City Hall, Police Station, Medivac, Sports venues and much much more...declaring July 25, 2009 "International Air Cadet Exchange Day" in the City of Frisco."  Pictures from Mayor Maso

24 July - Arrival  - "Twelve IACE Cadets and Escorts arrive from Turkey, The Netherlands, England and Canada. Immediately they are escorted to a western wear shop to be ensconced in Texas Headgear. Then shown the newest and biggest sports venue in the country, followed by the oldest sport in Texas...Cowboy Rodeo"
